Caring for people living here at Southwell Court
Southwell Court is registered by the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, as a residential care home for the elderly.
The Home consists of 3 floors, each with its own lounge, dining room and assisted bathroom. One floor is a modern dementia unit with single and double rooms, and is decorated to reflect the needs of those suffering from dementia.
We believe that living in a care home shouldn't prevent people from living a full and varied life. We therefore work hard to create a residential environment where people can share a lifetime of experience, socialise and enjoy life within warm, homely and welcoming surroundings.
We provide the highest level of care whilst helping residents to make their own choices and remain as independent as possible. Our specialist team of staff provide all the care and support needed and we provide a plethora of activity choices. Our Activities Co-ordinators will be guided by your interests and have many interesting ideas themselves. Our staff are trained to use initiative and come up with some good idea's but ultimately, you are the boss!
We are proud of our dedicated staff, many of whom have been with us since the Home opened. We train and encourage our staff to observe and thereby develop understanding of the residents, so as to assist them discreetly in their individual and various needs (and dare we say, idiosyncrasies). All care is under the leadership of our Senior Care Assistants and overseen by Margaret Hemstock, the Home Manager.

Your visit will also give us the opportunity to discuss how best we can meet your needs and the chance to find out those important things that make you the unique individual that you are. Our staff are available 24 hours a day to meet your needs.
Alternatively we can come out to your home and discuss and advise on the options available to you.
Dining at Southwell Court
Whatever one's age, young, old or somewhere in-between, we all want food to be one of the pleasures of our day - and so our catering staff have this imperative constantly in mind.
Our procurement policies focus on the quality end of the market; we use proprietary brands throughout, fresh fruit and vegetables from a local independent supplier and meats from local prize-winning butchers. But we go much further than this to delight first the eye and then the tummy!
As an experienced home management team, we understand that our residents will have different dietary needs, capabilities and appetites, so we ensure each of these key features is individually addressed in each meal. Individual tolerances and preferences are scrupulously identified, kept up-to-date and active, whilst different crockery, cutlery and levels of staff assistance at meal times ensure the most appropriate provision and support for each individual.Too much on one's plate can be as off-putting as too little, and portion sizes are calibrated to individual needs and choices, whilst "seconds" are always available.
